Hat mich dieses Wochenende n guter Kumpel besucht, der mein halbfertiges Lego-U-Boot auf meinem Regal hat verstauben sehen. Ich hab ihm erklärt, dass ichs nicht fertiggebaut hab, weil ich wollte, dass sich da sinnlose Zahnräder an der Seite drehen, das aber wegen der Reibung nicht hingekriegt hab, hat blockiert. Da fühlte er sich herausgefordert, das Problem zu lösen. Also saßen wir anderthalb Tage inmitten meines Legos und haben dran gebastelt. Das Design ist im Wesentlichen meins, die technische Umsetzung und Stabilität seins.

Das U-Boot rollt, dann drehen sich links vier Zahnräder, rechts zwei Zahnräder und ein Handrad und hinten der Propeller. Man kann die Kuppel halb öffnen, man kann die Verschalung hinter der Kuppel öffnen, das gibt den Blick auf den Motor frei, man kann die Verschalung vor der Kuppel öffnen, das gibt den Blick auf den Aufenthaltsraum frei. Und man kann beiderseits die schräge Verschalung aufklappen, für noch besseren Blick und Zugang. Inventar: zwei Fässer, eine Kiste mit Kleinkram (Werkzeug, Becher, Topf usw.), ein Halter für großes Werkzeug (Spaten, Hacke, Besen), ein Papagei. Instrumente: ein Kompass und ein Steuerpult im Bug, ein Steuerpult in der Kuppel. Besatzung: 5: Der ABENTEUERER, der BESTE KUMPEL, der PROFESSOR, die ASSISTENTIN und der WINDIGER GESCHÄFTEMACHER (sie haben noch keine Namen...).

This weekend a good friend of mine visited me. He saw my half-done Lego submarine gathering dust on my shelf. I explained to him that I didn't finish it because I wanted pointless turning cogwheels to be visible at the sides but couldn't manage it because of friction. He felt challenged to solve the problem. So we sat amidst my Lego for one and a half days and worked on it. The design is mainly mine, the engineering and stability his.

The sub rolls, then four cogwheels turn on the left side and two cogwheels and a handwheel turn on the right side and the propeller at the back. You can half open the dome, the cladding behind it, so you can take a look at the engine, the cladding in front of the dome, too, so you can take a look at the staffroom. And you can open the tilted cladding on both sides for an even better look and access. Inventory: two barrels, a box with stuff (tools, mugs, pot etc.), a holder for the bigger tools (spade, broom, pick), a parrot. Instruments: a compass and a control panel in the bow, a control panel in the dome. Crew: 5: the ADVENTURER, the BEST BUDDY, the PROFESSOR, the ASSISTANT and the DODGY TRADESMAN (they don't have names yet...).
